Bio

Joe Oprea is a freelance jazz bassist that has been teaching and performing music professionally since 2002. He received his undergraduate degree in music education from Central Michigan University in 2002 and his graduate degree in jazz bass performance from Western Michigan University in 2009. Joe currently teaches middle school orchestra in Lowell and is on the faculty at Grand Rapids Community College in addition to his many public performances. He has performed with many well-known musicians including Wes Anderson, Robbie Smith, Keith Hall, John Shea, Jim Cooper, and Tim Froncek. Joe has studied bass with such teachers as Phil Palmobi, Joseph Conyers, Tom Knific and Larry Gray. He can be seen and heard performing throughout the state of Michigan.
